Submission Guidelines
Monthly Column
Monthly Columns are one of the key features of The White Spider Film Collective. Because of the editorial nature of a column we do not take submissions for this feature, instead columnist are invited to write for the site based on our knowledge of the talent, experience and writing skill of each individual. If you are interested in becoming a columnist the best way to go about it is to submit articles. Once we become very familiar with your work, knowledge and writing style we will consider you for future guest columns when and if the need arises.
For Current Columnist
Our guidelines are simple, it’s your column, and you can write what you want as long as it relates to your column. As an example, Mendes on Photography is a general photography column. It discusses topics regarding all aspects of photography and stays away from video and film. Similarly a column on adventure videography will deal with the process, thoughts and philosophy of adventure filming. Have fun with your column, whether you want to do some hints and tips one month and philosophy related the next, just remember you’re here to share, inspire and hopefully educate the reader.
Due Dates: Your column will be due on the 20th of each month for the next month’s issue. This allows some time to read and edit and format the piece before publication.
Images: Please include at least one image or short video with each month’s column. The image allows you to relate the point of each column to the reader through an example of a when “this happened to me” or by showing the inspiration for the theme of that month’s column.
Author’s Bio: With your first submission please include a biography of yourself and work for inclusion with your columns. Please note: your biography may be edited to fit into the formatting of different sections of the site. Also include an image of yourself to run with the columns and a website and email for the readers to view, (Optional, however one must be on file with White Spider).
Column Name: Each column needs a Universal name so readers recognize your column each month. Also, each month the column (article) you submit needs its own title.
Article and Product Review
White Spider Film Collective is currently accepting article and product review submissions. All submissions will be reviewed and if we are interested in using it you will be contacted prior to the issue we are planning it for. If you do not hear from us we may still use your article at a later date but do not have room for it now or its topic may not fit our plans for upcoming issues.
Images: Please include at least one image or short video with each article, however often multiple images/video for encouraged. The image(s)/video(s) allow you to relate the point of each article to the reader through an example of a how-to or by showing the inspiration for the theme of that article.
