hey everybody, these are my kids milo & olive with their puppy jack jack. I havent done alot of studio work so let me know what you think. I dont have any studio strobes so with this shot i used my olympus fl-36 on a shoe mount light stand bracket and a reflector. Any tips would be great. thanks.

I like the image, I think the way you arranged the children with the dog is great. I think it could be improved if there had been a little more light on Olives?(the little girl) face. Overall, I think you have a great, playful image though.

You have a good idea here in terms of doing something cute but its also very difficult to do, putting a dog on top of a kids head. One thing that is very important in portrait photography is lighting, it creates the mood for the image and can make or break it. The lighting here is very harsh and because of that you have a number of hot spots that draw the eye directly to them. A big soft box will help to soften the light and a hair light would be a big help to separate the subject from the background.

In other news, I can't believe how big Milo is, I have a large display up that I see everyday, I forget that kids get bigger. You have a couple of cute kids.
